The Pianist is history drama movie directed by Roman Polanski. It is based on the autobiographical book: "The Pianist, a World War II memoir", by the Polish Jewish pianist & composer Władysław Szpilman.

In September 1939, Władysław Szpilman, a Polish & Jewish pianist plays on the radio in Warsaw when the station suddenly is bombed by Nazi Germany's invasion in World War 2. Hoping for a fast victory, Szpilman is happy with his family when learning that Britain and France have started a war against Germany. But as Germany defeats Poland quickly and the troops enter Warsaw, where life for Jews becomes difficult, as the Nazi authorities prevent them from working or owning businesses whilest forcing them to wear blue the Star of David armbands...
