Awakenings, the movie that is a true story is a 1990 American drama about Oliver Sacks. It is about a story of a neurologist, who, in 1969, discovers great effects of a new drug called L-Dopa. He prescribes this drug to catatonic patients who continued to be alive after the 1917 - 28 epidemic of encephalitis lethargica.. The film shows us a patient, named Leonard, who is sick and has problems coordinating his body, making sudden or too slow moves. Treated in a hospital we get to know the patient and his doctor and their great teamwork they put together. The beginning of the medical breathrough is when the doctor manages to see that some stimulies like music, or catching a ball, can reach to the catatonic patients. Later doctor Oliver Sacks manages his patient to be able to communicate with him through a Ouija board. This movie is a great film that we recommend you to see.
